Bethel and the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta are home to over 28,000 residents, an abundant cultural character that dates back thousands of years, and the natural and breathtaking beauty protected by the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge. Covering an area the size of Oregon, it is the second-largest wildlife refuge in the United Sates and remains a majestic land, surrounded by spectacular natural panoramas and free from development.
Offering a perfect habitat for noble golden eagles, bald eagles, peregrine falcons, roaming herds of caribou, and magnificent sea creatures such as harbor and Dall’s porpoises, northern fur and harbor seals, and beluga, gray and minke whales, the wildlife refuge is a treasured representation of Alaska’s entire splendor.
